Girl in the blue chair

Yesterday E was sick with a fever, so she was kind of lethargic, kind of cranky, kind of falling asleep everywhere.

Much later, after I took the photograph, I realized that the photo had various similarities to Mary Cassatt’s “Girl in the Blue Chair”. I took an entire art history course that focused on Cassatt, which to be honest, I found rather boring. But not because the subject itself was boring, but the way the class was taught did nothing to interest you in further reading about her incredible life. Hello? She’s a woman, she painted beautiful paintings of mothers and their babies… and people liked it. People thought of it as art-worthy. I highly recommend the bio on wikipedia.
